Bio

Stephen Deaton received his bachelor’s degree in environmental design from NC State in 1979. He is the owner of Deaton Investment Real Estate Inc., which he founded in 1981. He is a member of the Wolfpack Club, the Alumni Entrepreneurs Network, an Advisory Board member of the Wolfpack Investor Network and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. Deaton has been instrumental in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs’ Pack Essentials initiatives, including the Meal Plan Scholarship, Housing Scholarship and the Student Emergency Fund — programs that help ensure NC State students have access to the support and resources they need to successfully recover from unexpected financial crises. He also has a passion for giving to local “basic needs” charities. Deaton holds the professional designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and has held leadership roles and served on the boards of several Triangle business organizations. He and his wife, Gladys, have two sons. Deaton’s father and one of his sons are alumni of the College of Natural Resources.
