Nancy Kuivila
Raleigh, NC
Bio
Nancy Kuivila and her husband became active supporters of NC State University and its Libraries after relocating to Raleigh from Rochester, NY. As former academic librarians, they understood the importance of libraries in education and looked for a university library “home” in the Research Triangle. They joined the Friends of the Library in 1987 and over the years expanded their support as Life Members, endowment holders and through planned giving. Kuivila was elected to the Friends of the Libraries Board in 2009 and served until 2024. During her tenure, she chaired the Development, Engagement, and Nominations committees, and served as President from 2020-2022.
Kuivila became intrigued by information technology while working in the library field and spent most of her career working in IT consulting, management and project management for government, information technology and financial services organizations. She received a BA from Smith College, an MS in Library and Information Sciences from the University at Albany, and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
