2014 #TURKEYCHALLENGE COMPLETE!
“For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.” Rudyard Kipling
Those words are as true today as they were when he wrote them. Few things have shown that to be more accurate this December than the support of recent graduates during the 2014 #TurkeyChallenge.
The #TurkeyChallenge was established in order to benefit both NC State and those in need in our community. Thanks to your support 220 turkeys were delivered to the Food Bank feeding more than 600 needy families this holiday season — allowing them the peace and joy that comes with a good meal shared by those you love.
More importantly, we know that at NC State we are working to combat the challenges of today in order to create solutions for tomorrow. Your gifts, while distributed throughout the university, will support individuals who are working on solving pressing problems such as food insecurity and obesity so that future generations may not face the same needs as too many of our fellow men and women do today.
NC State is a great university because of you. We cannot say that — or thank you — enough.
Drumroll please …
Recent graduate Aaron Matthew Kirk (B.S.’10 Computer Science) is the winner of two tickets to the NC State versus Notre Dame basketball game on January 25.
Recent graduate Sean Kortovich (B.S. ’11 Civil Engineering) is the winner of the Turkey Challenge “Coffee with the Chancellor” drawing will be joining Chancellor Woodson in January for coffee. Sean says, “”I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to meet with Chancellor Woodson. I look forward to hearing about his vision for NC State as well as sharing my experiences while I was at school there. Go Pack!
What is the Turkey Challenge?
NC State’s tradition of think and do began long ago with the Watauga Club—a group of young leaders under thirty who sought to transform North Carolina and did so by founding our university. Today’s Turkey Challenge continues this tradition of youth leadership.
For the past two years recent graduates have raised money for our university during the holiday season. Prestage Farms, Inc. has honored this generosity by donating turkeys to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
Recent grads are invited to keep the NC State tradition of thinking and doing alive by making a gift to NC State from November 17 – December 17. When we reach 400 gifts from recent grads Prestage Farms, Inc. will donate 200 turkeys to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
